DSM Magazine: May Feature
Sister States / High School Baseball / In print in my hometown
This spring has been a whirlwind. I’ve been thrown into travel again with new projects, friends, cities, and a new love.
More on this all, later.
For now, I am especially excited to share that one of my stories about Japan was just published and printed in the latest issue of DSM Magazine. Des Moines friends can pick this up anywhere in town for free - most local shops and restaurants have issues on display, but the article I wrote can also be found online here.
For anyone interested in the full version of the story, you can head to Medium to read it for free, but I will soon be publishing it here in its entirety, with a fresh edit and updated photographs, retouched with the help of my father in Des Moines this winter.
The Great Game off of Kanagawa (published in A-Culturated, on Medium.com)
I want to thank Yoko Tanaka, from Japan American Society of Iowa, who helped arrange another trip to Yamanashi for me in February, the story of which is also written about in the latest issue of DSM.
For anyone in Des Moines during the dates of 23-25 May, you have a chance to see the traditional puppet theatre (bunraku) performance at Celebrasian and the Playhouse, which I will share more about soon.
I also want to thank the Hayano family for their hospitality and support in Kofu, which made all of the above travels possible.
